Discord security guide for beginners

Discord security bots are automated sentries that safeguard communities by monitoring real-time events and analyzing behavior. These bots look at the API of Discord and watch users , their message rate , their join rate , etc . to find trends that are not normal to human behavior .

Blast Protection prevents coordinated mass-join attacks by detecting extreme increases in the number of new accounts and subjecting them to verification processes before they can be used to access the chat. Advanced screening of keywords and links with Blast Protection quickly blocks automated spam and phishing attempts. Account age and history are also used in Blast Protection to prevent questionable accounts. monitor server integrity by tracking dangerous permissions and prevent “nuke” attempts that automatically undo channel deletions or mass bans of users.

The following methods are supported with Blast Protection:

  • Join Gate filters “join raids” which are spammed bot accounts
  • Nukes (by users and/or bots)
  • Planned raids by group of real people using anti spam
  • Botted accounts using Blast Protection’s Captcha model

How to setup Blast Protection:

  1. After inviting the bot here, the setup panel should appear somewhere in a channel. If it does not appear you can run the /setup command.
  2. Click on the start setup.
  3. Select a protection level, this is how strict the bot will monitor your server and take action against interactions. Select chill, normal or strict.
  4. Now, select trusted members and bypassing. Using Discord’s roles system, you can move the role assigned to the bot, which is called “Blast Protection” and should have a popup saying that the bot belongs to the app when you select it in settings. Everyone with a role that’s higher than the bot’s highest role is immune to security measures. You can move this to edit who bypasses Blast Protection.
  5. If you’re done moving some roles, click next.
  6. Now you need to set the logging channels. These channels include audit logs, security alerts and mod logs (if mod logs supports your server).
  7. Use the menus below to set the channels. We highly recommend you to select channels only you and managers can access.
  8. Once you’re done, click finish. You have now completed the setup!
